Job Overview

As a Conservation Officer with Ncc Ccn, you will play a critical role in ensuring the protection and preservation of our natural resources. Your primary responsibility will be to patrol and monitor our properties, enforcing regulations and laws to maintain public safety and protect the environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Enforce laws and regulations related to environmental protection and wildlife conservation
  • Monitor and protect properties, buildings, lands, and natural resources
  • Provide public safety services, including search and rescue operations, first aid, and firefighting
  • Collaborate with other agencies and stakeholders to achieve conservation goals
Requirements
  • Education: Degree in Law Enforcement, Wildlife Protection, Conservation and Environmental Law Enforcement, or a related field
  • Experience: 1-3 years in each of the following areas: enforcing laws, managing properties, and providing public safety services
  • Knowledge: Familiarity with legal proceedings, federal, provincial, and municipal laws and regulations, and conservation practices
  • Abilities: Ability to work independently, establish priorities, and meet deadlines
  • Competencies: Demonstrating integrity, respect, and civility; thinking critically and innovating; working effectively with others; and showing initiative and action-oriented behavior
Assets
  • Possess a Pleasure Craft Operator Card (PCOC)
  • Training for use of All-Terrain Vehicle (ATV) and snowmobile
  • A provincial trapping licence from Québec or Ontario
  • Knowledge of Ncc Ccn regulations, including Traffic and Property Regulations
  • Ability to present testimonies and evidence in court
Working Conditions
  • Work in a natural environment, sometimes in rugged terrain and difficult weather conditions
  • Work evenings, weekends, shifts outside regular working hours, and during statutory holidays
  • Wear a uniform, including protective equipment and operational tools
  • Possess a valid certificate for First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation
  • Meet RCMP criteria to obtain Peace Officer Status
  • Handle extensive patrolling
Conditions of Employment
  • Possess or eligible to obtain Secret security clearance
  • Linguistic profile: Bilingual BBB
  • Possess a valid driver's licence and a good driver's abstract
  • Complete a psychological assessment
  • Undergo a medical examination
  • Pass the Physical Abilities Requirement Evaluation (PARE) or a similar evaluation
  • Reside within a commutable distance from the workplace
