About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Project Superintendent to join our team at Colas Western Canada Inc. as a key member of our construction operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Health, Safety & Environmental Management:
    • Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations and company policies.
    • Lead by example and promote a positive safety culture among crew members and management.
    • Conduct regular site inspections to identify potential hazards and implement mitigating measures.
    • Prepare and submit reports on work-related accidents, incidents, and environmental concerns.
  • Project Coordination:
    • Supervise foremen and staff to ensure project specifications and benchmarks are met.
    • Coordinate logistics, including equipment, labor, and subcontractors.
    • Assist in preparing project master schedules and monitor progress.
    • Liaise with stakeholders, including consultants, owners, customers, and subcontractors.
  • Quality Control:
    • Review QA/QC tests to ensure quality control requirements are met.
    • Implement corrective actions as necessary.
  • Problem-Solving:
    • Troubleshoot project concerns, including bad weather, scheduling conflicts, quality control issues, and labor disputes.
    • Make recommendations to the Project Manager on resolution of issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Financial Management:
    • Monitor project cost/budget performance and implement strategies to complete the project within budget.
Requirements
  • Relevant experience in the construction industry.
  • Ability to read and understand project specifications and contract documents.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Valid class 5 driver's license and clean current driver's abstract.
  • Computer skills, including Outlook, Excel, and Word.
