ROLE OVERVIEW:

Our Health Care Assistants play a vital role in our community by empowering residents to engage in activities that are meaningful to them while fostering a safe and nurturing atmosphere.
Under the guidance of the Health & Wellness Manager, this position is dedicated to enriching the lives of residents by supporting their independence and personal choices. Responsibilities include delivering care in accordance with individualized care plans and established standards, as directed by the Health and Wellness Manager or the LPN in their absence.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Completion of an accredited Health Care Aide program and current registration in the Alberta Health Care Aide directory.
• Certification in the Medication Assistance Program (MAP) is required.
• Emergency First Aid and CPR certification is mandatory.
• Previous experience in senior care is an asset.
• Proficient communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating initiative and problem-solving capabilities.
• A dependable and responsible individual who collaborates well with others.
• A positive attitude aligned with the values of our residence.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Engage in continuous quality improvement practices.
• Collaborate with the care team to provide insights on resident care plans based on their comprehensive needs.
• Deliver holistic care that encompasses cognitive, social, and emotional support, promoting comfort and well-being.
• Assist residents in maintaining their daily living activities while respecting their rights and preferences.
• Conduct care procedures following established policies and standards.
• Monitor and document changes in residents' health conditions and maintain accurate health records in compliance with privacy regulations.
• Support co-workers and advocate for residents' rights and needs.
• Ensure a clean and safe living environment for residents, adhering to health and safety protocols.
• Participate in training and adhere to all corporate policies and procedures.
