Position Overview

We are currently seeking an Intake Worker for a six-month contract. In this vital role, you will serve as the first point of contact for families seeking assistance. Utilizing your background in Child and Youth Work, you will assess inquiries, triage initial calls, and recommend appropriate programs based on the needs of the child, youth, or family.

This position is full-time, requiring 35 hours per week, and is conducted during daytime hours, Monday through Friday.

Key Responsibilities

  • Needs Assessment: Respond to initial inquiries for all CDI programs, evaluating the family or individual situation to determine the urgency of needs and appropriate referrals.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of assessments and communications, summarizing critical issues and directing them to suitable programs.
  • Resource Collaboration: Stay informed about community resources available for children, youth, and families to enhance service delivery.
  • Referral Coordination: Work with internal staff and community partners to facilitate the referral process, ensuring seamless communication and information transfer.
  • Quality Assurance: Uphold professional standards and contribute to process improvements to enhance intake efficiency.

Qualifications

  • Educational Background: A diploma in Child & Youth Work, with experience in working with children, youth, and families, particularly in mental health contexts.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Strong communication abilities, with a focus on empathetic listening and building trust with clients over the phone.
  • Professional Integrity: Ability to manage stressful situations with professionalism and a positive demeanor, demonstrating accountability and respect.
  • Adaptability: Capacity to handle diverse inquiries and interruptions while maintaining focus on the needs of clients.
  • Commitment to Impact: A genuine desire to contribute positively to the lives of children and families, ensuring a supportive and impactful experience.

Compensation: This position is unionized under CUPE, offering a salary of $68,615 per annum, pro-rated based on the contract duration.
