Position Overview
We are currently seeking an Intake Worker to fulfill a six-month contract. In this essential role, you will serve as the initial point of contact for families seeking our services, responding to inquiries via phone and assessing their needs.
As an Intake Worker, you will utilize your background in Child and Youth Work to triage incoming calls, evaluate the circumstances of children, youth, or families, and recommend appropriate programs. Your expertise will guide clients towards evidence-based services that meet their specific needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess Needs: You will manage initial inquiries for all CDI programs, determining the urgency of each situation and directing families to necessary resources.
- Documentation: You will accurately document interactions, summarizing critical issues and directing them to suitable programs while adhering to organizational policies.
- Resource Collaboration: You will maintain a thorough understanding of community resources available for children, youth, and families.
- Referral Coordination: You will work closely with internal staff and community partners to facilitate the referral process, ensuring seamless communication and information transfer.
- Quality Assurance: You will uphold professional standards, aligning your work with our mission and values while identifying opportunities for process enhancements.
Qualifications
- Educational Background: A diploma in Child & Youth Work, with experience in supporting children, youth, and their families, particularly in mental health contexts.
- Professional Skills: Ability to manage a dynamic work environment, effectively addressing diverse inquiries while maintaining focus.
- Integrity and Empathy: A calm demeanor in challenging situations, demonstrating professionalism and respect in all interactions.
- Communication Proficiency: Exceptional listening skills, capable of building trust and understanding with clients from various backgrounds.
- Commitment to Impact: A genuine interest in contributing to positive outcomes for children and families.
Additional Information
- Successful candidates will undergo a Vulnerable Sector Check.
- Credential verification and references will be required.
Compensation: This position is unionized under CUPE, offering a salary of $68,615 per annum, pro-rated based on the contract duration.
