Position Overview

The role of Teaching Assistant II involves supporting the educational process within the Project Management course focused on Graphic Communications. This position is essential for fostering a productive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Facilitate discussions and provide tutoring to students.
  • Supervise laboratory sessions and demonstrate equipment usage.
  • Assist students with their project work in designated labs.
  • Maintain office hours for student consultations, including electronic communication.
  • Support the assessment process by marking tests, lab assignments, essays, and term papers.
  • Conduct invigilation duties during midterms and examinations.
  • Prepare educational materials, including written and audiovisual content.

Work Hours

Estimated total work hours: 92.00 hours per semester. Actual hours may vary based on qualifications and pay rate. Maximum allowable hours are 130 per semester or 390 per academic year. Employment is not guaranteed, and pay is not provided when not assigned.

Qualifications

  • Must be enrolled in the fourth year of the Toronto Metropolitan University Undergraduate Program.
  • Maintain an overall academic performance of B+ (3.3 GPA) or higher.
  • Completion of relevant coursework with a minimum grade of B+ (3.3 GPA).
  • Previous performance evaluations as an Assistant at the University may be considered.

Relevant Experience

  • Familiarity with Project Management coursework as a student or Teaching Assistant.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Reliability and punctuality.
  • Excellent organizational abilities.
  • Knowledge of project management software and applications is advantageous.

Compensation

Compensation rates are as follows: TA I - $36.39 per hour, TA II/External - $36.39 per hour, Master - $47.06 per hour.
