Organic Synthesis Scientist

Lunella Biotech Inc. is seeking a skilled Medicinal Chemist (MSc or PhD) with a robust understanding of contemporary organic synthesis techniques. The successful candidate will play a vital role in the development of innovative pharmaceutical compounds aimed at addressing specific medical conditions.
This role necessitates hands-on experience in executing multi-step synthesis and purification processes for intricate small molecules. Proficiency in characterizing these molecules using standard analytical methods such as NMR and LC-MS is highly desirable.
You will operate under the guidance of a senior scientist and collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary project team, focusing on the biological evaluation of the synthesized compounds to determine their efficacy against designated targets, including mitochondrial homeostasis.
Key Responsibilities:
- Independently conduct the synthesis, purification, and characterization of target molecules with minimal supervision.
- Manage your own schedule and laboratory activities, seeking assistance when necessary.
- Adhere to health and safety protocols and maintain safe laboratory practices.
- Perform data analysis to evaluate experimental outcomes, including the collection and interpretation of analytical data with support from senior scientists.
- Document experimental procedures accurately and contribute data for patent submissions.
- Collaborate effectively with colleagues from various scientific disciplines.
- Prepare reports and deliver presentations regarding your research findings to peers.
- Participate in and contribute to internal project discussions.
- Stay informed on the latest scientific literature relevant to your work.
Qualifications:
- Strong foundation in modern synthetic organic chemistry methodologies.
- Proven ability to design and execute scientific experiments with precision and safety.
- Hands-on experience with contemporary purification and analytical techniques, including preparative chromatography, NMR, and LC-MS.
- Excellent analytical skills with the capability to interpret experimental data effectively.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a diverse team environment.
- Outstanding written communication skills for report generation.
- Effective verbal communication skills for clear presentation of information.
