Job Opportunity at the Ottawa Hospital Research Institute
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join our research team at the Ottawa Hospital Research Institute. As a Research Scientist, you will be working in the Department of Cellular & Molecular Medicine, focusing on understanding the functional specialization of endothelial cells in various organs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct research on endothelial cell biology, with a focus on the liver and its sinusoidal endothelium
- Develop and implement new cell-based therapies and therapeutics for liver disease, liver cancer, and hemophilia A
- Collaborate with the Gage lab team to design and execute experiments using mammalian cell culture, human pluripotent stem cells, and CRISPR-Cas9 gene editing
- Apply molecular and computational techniques to analyze data and draw conclusions
Requirements:
- Master's or PhD degree in a relevant field (e.g. cell biology, molecular medicine, biochemistry)
- Experience in mammalian cell culture, molecular biology, and quantitative cell biology
- Experience with animal models (mice) and bioinformatics analysis (R programming)
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with lentivirus and eligibility for CIHR/NSERC graduate student scholarship applications
