This position is part-time, requiring 17.5 hours per week. Hours may be adjusted based on the operational needs of the laboratory.

JOB SUMMARY Under the general authority and direct supervision of the Library Manager, the incumbent will oversee the Language Resource Centre and provide assistance to educators in the preparation, execution, and supervision of language laboratory sessions and assignments.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Coordinate the scheduling of language lab facilities for classes and related activities.

• Stay updated with new features and enhancements of online language programs. Provide demonstrations and troubleshooting support for educators and students. Document and disseminate instructions.

• Support educators during group and individual assessments within the lab, including written, computer-based, oral, and audio evaluations.

• Collaborate with faculty to address instructional requirements and the use of the Classroom Management System.

• Work alongside IT Services to ensure the proper maintenance of the labs.

• Organize and manage both digital and physical language lab resources, ensuring accessibility for educators. Adapt and update resources as necessary.

• Train and oversee student assistants and volunteers.

• Execute all administrative duties, including payroll authorizations, contracts, statistics, and addressing facility and IT service requests.

• Develop and refine procedures to ensure efficient lab operations.

• Serve as a liaison among librarians, educators, technicians, sales representatives, and other language labs within the institution.

• Provide assistance in Library Media Services as required.

• Research and evaluate language software and equipment for potential inclusion in lab resources.

• Undertake any additional tasks as assigned.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS: A college diploma (DEC) in a relevant field or an equivalent qualification recognized by the appropriate authority.
SPECIFIC SKILLS

• Proficient in English (oral and written)

• Proficient in French (oral, written, and comprehension)

• Competent in computer applications, including Word and Excel

• Self-sufficient - capable of working with minimal oversight

• Strong communication skills with staff and students.
