Technical Support for Language Labs

**THIS POSITION IS FOR 17.5 HOURS PER WEEK. HOURS MAY BE ADJUSTED BASED ON THE NEEDS OF THE LAB**
JOB SUMMARY: Under the general authority and direct supervision of the Library Manager, the successful candidate will oversee the Language Resource Centre and provide assistance to educators in the preparation, execution, and supervision of language laboratory classes and assignments.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Organize scheduling for language lab rooms and spaces for educational activities.
• Acquire proficiency with updates and features of online language programs. Provide demonstrations and troubleshooting support for educators and students. Document and share instructions.
• Support educators during group and individual assessments within the Lab (including written, computer-based, oral, and audio evaluations).
• Collaborate with faculty to address instructional needs and the application of the Classroom Management System.
• Work alongside IT Services to maintain laboratory facilities.
• Manage and organize digital and physical resources within the language lab, ensuring availability for educators. Adapt and update resources as necessary.
• Train and supervise student workers and volunteers.
• Handle administrative tasks including payroll authorizations, contracts, statistics, and issue tracking for facilities and IT services.
• Establish and refine procedures to ensure efficient lab operations.
• Serve as a liaison among librarians, educators, technicians, sales representatives, and other language labs.
• Assist in Library Media Services as required.
• Research and evaluate language software and equipment for potential integration into lab inventory.
• Perform additional related tasks as assigned.
EDUCATION: A college diploma (DEC) in a relevant field or an equivalent qualification recognized by the competent authority.
SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS:
• Intermediate proficiency in English (oral and written)
• Intermediate proficiency in French (oral, written, and comprehension)
• Proficient in computer applications, including Word and Excel
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Strong communication skills with staff and students
