Job Overview

IMPORTANT : Effective immediately

This is a part-time position with a commitment of 17.5 hours per week. Hours may be adjusted based on the needs of the laboratory.

POSITION SUMMARY Under the general authority and direct supervision of the Library Manager, the incumbent will oversee the Language Resource Centre and provide assistance to educators in the preparation, execution, and supervision of language laboratory classes and assignments.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Coordinate scheduling of language lab facilities for classes and related activities.

• Acquire proficiency with updates and features of online language programs. Provide demonstrations and troubleshooting support for educators and students. Document and share instructions.

• Support educators during group and individual assessments within the Lab (including written, computer-based, oral, and audio evaluations).

• Collaborate with faculty to address instructional needs and the application of the Classroom Management System.

• Work alongside IT Services to maintain laboratory facilities.

• Organize and manage digital and physical resources within the language lab. Ensure resources are accessible to educators and update them as necessary.

• Train and oversee student workers and volunteers.

• Execute administrative tasks, including payroll authorizations, contracts, statistics, and facility-related issues.

• Develop and refine procedures to ensure efficient lab operations.

• Serve as a liaison among librarians, educators, technicians, vendors, and other language labs.

• Assist in Library Media Services as required.

• Research and evaluate language software and equipment for potential integration into lab resources.

• Undertake any other related tasks as assigned.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS: A college diploma (DEC) in a relevant field or an equivalent qualification recognized by the appropriate authority.
SPECIFIC SKILLS REQUIRED

• Proficient in English (oral and written)

• Proficient in French (oral, written, and comprehension)

• Competent in computer applications, including Word and Excel

• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently

• Strong communication skills with staff and students
