Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join our team as a Constituency Assistant – Social Media and Communications. This role will be responsible for managing and maintaining the social media presence of our Member of Parliament, as well as providing communications support to the constituency office.

Key Responsibilities
  • Social Media Management
    • Develop and implement a comprehensive social media strategy to engage with constituents and promote the Member's activities.
    • Manage and update the Member's social media accounts, including Facebook, Instagram, and other platforms.
  • Communications Support
    • Provide communications support to the constituency office, including drafting press releases, media advisories, and other communications materials.
    • Assist in the development and implementation of the Member's communications strategy.
  • Event Planning
    • Support the planning and coordination of community events, outreach activities, and official visits.
    • Assist in the development of event materials, including invitations, programs, and other promotional materials.
  • Qualifications
    • Education
      • Post-secondary education from a recognized institution in communications, journalism, business administration, or a related field.
    • Experience
      • Experience working in an office setting providing communications and media support.
      • Knowledge of media relations management principles, Canadian politics, current events, and the political and environmental climate.
    • Skills
      • Ability to establish and manage multiple priorities, meet strict deadlines, and work independently in a high-stress environment.
      • Experience in planning and maintaining a brand through multiple social media platforms.

      • Experience volunteering or working for a political organization (Federal, Provincial, Municipal, or other).
      • Experience planning events and supporting project coordination.
