Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Executive Director, Workplace Health and Safety to join our team at the Provincial Health Services Authority (PHSA). As a key member of our senior leadership team, you will be responsible for leading the development and implementation of workplace health and safety strategies across our province-wide programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic leadership and expertise in workplace health and safety, aligning with PHSA's overall strategic plan and provincial commitments.
  • Develop and implement long-term plans, ensuring consistency with government legislation and policies, as well as provincial standards and agreements.
  • Collaborate with leadership to integrate cross-functional HR network teams, providing consistent and qualitative service to clients.
  • Drive results through integrating practice and approaches across PHSA, building on existing practice and extending it to all, exploring opportunities and leveraging resources.
  • Lead staff in growing partnerships with clients, facilitating consensus to plan and deliver on specific programs and services.
  • Oversee portfolio teams to provide expert counsel, high-quality services, and embody PHSA values, providing leadership through coaching, guiding, and modelling key behaviors.
Requirements
  • A master's degree in occupational health, human resources, business administration, or a related discipline.
  • 10+ years of progressively more senior experience, with a minimum of 5 years at a leadership level.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the historic and ongoing impacts of settler colonialism on Indigenous Peoples in social and health contexts, including significant knowledge of Indigenous-specific mandates and a commitment to eradicating Indigenous-specific racism and discrimination.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of legislative obligations and provincial commitments within Workplace Health and Safety contexts, including the Truth & Reconciliation Commission's Calls to Action (2015), In Plain Sight (2020), BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019), and the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP).
