Senior Research and Development Engineer

At Baylis Medical Technologies Inc., we're seeking a highly skilled Senior Research and Development Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our R&D team, you'll play a pivotal role in developing and maintaining our dynamic portfolio of innovative medical devices.

In this position, you'll collaborate closely with cross-functional team members, integrating into every stage of product development, from conceptualization to commercialization. You'll also gain exposure to sustaining activities within our commercial lines, offering a diverse range of experiences and opportunities for career advancement.

As a Senior Research and Development Engineer, you'll have the chance to engage with regulatory bodies to obtain approvals and collaborate with our IP department on patent issuance. You'll also be responsible for leading the development of plans and testing for design verification and validation, driving the development of intellectual property within the company, and providing technical, project-level leadership to junior engineering staff as needed.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and maintain our portfolio of innovative medical devices
  • Collaborate with cross-functional team members on product development
  • Lead the development of plans and testing for design verification and validation
  • Drive the development of intellectual property within the company
  • Provide technical, project-level leadership to junior engineering staff
  • Support and lead Research and Development sustaining projects
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering
  • 6+ years of experience in an engineering role
  • Knowledge of risk management as per ISO 14971
  • Ability to independently develop and adapt work plans
  • Strong hypothesis-driven experimental design and statistical analysis skills
  • Demonstrated experience in creative engineering design
  • Strong interest in biomedical technology
  • Dynamic, flexible approach to work with a results-oriented attitude
  • Experience in at least one of the following areas: hydrophilic coating, injection molding part design, or the development of steerable catheters/sheaths
