Position Overview:

1. Develop and execute an efficient daily receiving strategy.

2. Utilize handheld wireless devices to accurately assess incoming and outgoing scrap deliveries.

3. Serve as the authority on all scrap grades and non-conforming materials, establishing grading criteria and disseminating information to ensure quality standards are met.

4. Engage with and instruct others on safe practices for scrap off-loading, inspection, and storage.

5. Conduct visual inspections of scrap for grading and quality assurance.

6. Identify and segregate non-conforming materials, documenting evidence and applying necessary penalties to suppliers.

7. Regularly communicate with scrap buyers, suppliers, and operators regarding scrap quality.

8. Provide daily reports on scrap quality and receiving efficiency.

9. Educate the workforce on scrap inspection policies, procedures, and the significance of thorough inspections.

10. Participate in routine meetings to discuss quality and efficiency.

11. Formulate improvement plans related to the inspection of raw materials.

Key Responsibilities:

· Ensure the quality of incoming feedstock for processing.

· Create and manage a yard-wide receiving plan in collaboration with supervisors and inspectors.

· Classify, organize, and manage inventory effectively.

· Perform verification, documentation, and record-keeping related to the receipt and inspection of scrap metal.

· Innovate new tracking methods for materials throughout the processing stages.

· Oversee the organization and management of shipping processed materials.

· Engage in physical activities, including walking across uneven terrain, standing, and moving scrap materials.

· Work primarily outdoors, facing environmental factors such as inclement weather and noise from machinery.

Qualifications:

· High school diploma or GED is required.

· Ability to stand, walk, and bend for the majority of the workday.

· Availability for a Monday to Friday shift from 6 AM to 2 PM.

· Must be comfortable working outdoors throughout the day.

· A minimum of 2 years of experience in a customer service-oriented role is preferred.

· Strong communication skills with a focus on customer relations, including the ability to apply penalties for non-conforming deliveries professionally.

· Proficient computer skills and the ability to learn new software.

· Willingness to take responsibility for challenging tasks.

· Experience working with a unionized workforce is advantageous.
