Job Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Strategic Program Director to lead our Enterprise Program Management Office (EPMO) at Definity. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for driving the successful execution and delivery of portfolios of programs and projects across the organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Strategy and Planning
    • Develop and implement intake and prioritization processes for initiatives, ensuring alignment with the organizational strategy.
    • Establish standards, processes, and controls to guide EPMO activities.
    • Participate in the annual capital planning process and identify opportunities for improvement.
    • Develop prioritization models, weighting, and risk criteria to evaluate initiatives and programs at an enterprise level.
  • Operational Expertise
    • Collaborate with business units and internal departments to execute activities and prepare strategies for implementation.
    • Set standards for project management and ensure adherence to best practices.
    • Introduce common practices, principles, and templates for managing projects.
    • Conduct regular reviews of projects, maturity assessments, and retrospectives.
  • Portfolio and Release Planning, Execution & Reporting
    • Define portfolio and release planning strategies at an enterprise level and drive their execution.
    • Oversee the maintenance, revision, and reprioritization of the enterprise project portfolio.
    • Identify and resolve issues at the enterprise portfolio level.
  • Relationship Management
    • Ensure alignment of priorities, approaches, and activities across teams within the EPMO.
    • Use influence and negotiation skills to achieve EPMO priorities and goals.
    • Develop and maintain high-trust working relationships with business sponsors, partners, and IT stakeholders.
Requirements
  • University degree or college diploma in computer science, business, IT, or a related discipline.
  • 12+ years of experience in project management and/or portfolio management and/or delivery in a fast-paced, high-growth technology market.
  • 7+ years of successful management/leadership and people management experience in delivering complex, corporate-wide programs and projects.
  • Ability to demonstrate complex technical concepts and solutions to business partners and stakeholders.
  • Experience in program and project management financials.
  • Experience in P&C insurance industry is considered an asset.
  • Experience with Guidewire cloud platform is considered an asset.
  • Relevant industry-related certifications are considered an asset.
