The compensation for this role is CAD $39.21 per hour.

Position Overview

Join Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) as a 3rd Class Power Engineer specializing in maintenance. This role is essential to our Power Plant team at Vancouver General Hospital.

As a 3rd Class Power Engineer, your responsibilities will include:

  1. Operating, maintaining, repairing, and modifying various systems and equipment related to steam distribution, steam condensate, hot water heating, HVAC, medical air/vacuum, and mechanical power generation, ensuring compliance with regulatory codes and hospital policies.

Additionally, you may be required to work within the Energy Centre as needed.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

Must possess a Certificate of Competency as a 3rd Class Power Engineer recognized by the Province of BC.

A minimum of four (4) years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and training is required.

Skills & Competencies

  1. Proficient in operating related equipment.
  2. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  3. Ability to interact effectively with others.
  4. Capable of reading and interpreting blueprints and specifications.
  5. Physical capability to perform the duties of the position.
  6. Excellent organizational skills.
Additional Information

Work hours, including days off and work areas, may vary based on operational needs and collective agreements. Successful candidates may need to undergo a Criminal Records Review Check.
