Maintenance Power Engineer 3rd Class Specialist

Job Summary:
Vancouver Coastal Health is seeking a skilled Maintenance Power Engineer 3rd Class to join the Power Plant team at Vancouver General Hospital. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating, maintaining, repairing, and modifying various equipment and systems associated with the power plant.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate and maintain steam distribution, steam condensate, hot water heating, heating ventilation and air conditioning, medical air/vacuum, mechanical power generation systems, and other related equipment.
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on equipment and systems to ensure optimal performance and efficiency.
- Collaborate with other team members to ensure smooth operation of the power plant and resolve any issues that may arise.
- Conduct regular inspections and tests to ensure compliance with regulatory codes and hospital policies.
Qualifications:
- Certificate of competency as a 3rd Class Power Engineer recognized by the Province of BC.
- Four (4) years' recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Ability to operate related equipment, communicate effectively, and deal with others effectively.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
