Position Overview

We are seeking a seasoned database administrator to enhance our North America IT operations team. In this pivotal role, you will oversee the management of both production and non-production database environments. Your responsibilities will include configuring, optimizing, and maintaining SQL Server database engines across diverse settings, collaborating with engineering teams on software improvements, and ensuring the operational teams achieve the high performance and availability our clients demand.

As a senior member of the DBA group, you will play a vital role in the development and maintenance of our platform. Our clients expect top-tier performance and reliability, with the database serving as the backbone of our software solutions. You will collaborate with colleagues to troubleshoot issues, enhance performance, introduce new features, and suggest improvements to our systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and sustain SQL Server databases in both production and non-production settings
  • Deliver expert-level support and diagnostics to address performance challenges and resolve issues
  • Design, create, and uphold reports and scripts tailored to the needs of clients and team members
  • Engage in the engineering and design phases to improve functionality and roll out new features
  • Collaborate with security and risk management teams to uphold the highest standards of platform security
  • Participate in an on-call rotation for critical incidents and issues, with occasional off-hours work required.

Candidate Profile

We seek innovative thinkers who can drive positive transformation, demonstrate initiative, and possess a strong desire to learn and develop. This entails:

  • Extensive experience with SQL Server and T-SQL at a senior level
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies, particularly CI/CD in relation to database design
  • A strong interest in automation, with knowledge of tools such as Ansible, Jenkins, and Octopus
  • Excellent communication abilities and a collaborative spirit
  • A keen eye for detail and a commitment to continuous improvement
  • A strong focus on data integrity, backups, business continuity, and risk management
  • Over 5 years of professional experience managing SQL Server databases in a dynamic, high-availability environment; experience in the payments sector is advantageous
