Nutrition and Food Services Utility Worker

The Nutrition and Food Services Utility Worker is a key member of the patient and retail food service team at Nova Scotia Health. This role is responsible for preparing and serving meals and supplies to patients, residents, veterans, staff, families, and customers. The Utility Worker also plays a crucial role in cleaning and sanitizing patient trays, related equipment, and workplaces, ensuring a safe and healthy environment for all.
Key Responsibilities:- Prepare and serve patient meals, including assembling, portioning, and serving nourishments, special feedings, beverages, and menu items
- Deliver and distribute selective menus and patient meals
- Collect soiled patient trays and maintain a clean and sanitized work environment
- Participate in receiving and storing supplies, including food and non-food items, using First In First Out (FIFO) principles
- Inventory management and ordering of supplies as needed
- Maintain basic work area safety and sanitation, including proper hand hygiene, food storage cleanliness, and temperature control
We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Previous experience in food service or a related field is an asset, but not required. The successful candidate will be able to work in a fast-paced environment and maintain a high level of productivity and accuracy.
Hours and Compensation:This is a casual relief position, with hours varying depending on the needs of the department. The hourly rate is $19.26 - $20.02, depending on experience.
