About the Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled Utility Worker to join our team at Nova Scotia Health Authority. As a key member of our Facilities Maintenance team, you will play a vital role in maintaining a clean and safe environment for our patients, visitors, and staff.

The successful candidate will be responsible for performing general repetitive tasks in maintaining assigned areas, adhering to established standards and observing proper cleaning and disinfecting techniques. This includes participating in On-the-Job Training programs, seeking clarification of duties when indicated, and offering assistance and/or instruction to co-workers.

We are looking for a team player who is able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing tasks and managing time efficiently. The ideal candidate will possess good communication skills, be able to work independently, and demonstrate a professional manner in work settings.

The Utility Worker will also be responsible for channeling suggestions, concerns, and queries to appropriate authority, practicing responsible cost effectiveness in the use of time, materials, and equipment, and observing all hospital and departmental personnel policies with particular reference to patient confidentiality.

About You

We are looking for a candidate who possesses the following qualifications:

  • Grade 12/GED required or equivalent work experience
  • Knowledge of cleaning techniques and methods that apply to a healthcare setting is an asset
  • Good communication skills are essential
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Hours and Compensation

This is a permanent, full-time position with 75 hours bi-weekly. The successful candidate will be compensated at a rate of $20.02 per hour.

Successful candidates may be eligible for our benefits package, which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage, as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
