About the Opportunity

The Utility Worker plays a vital role in maintaining a clean and sanitary environment within our healthcare facilities. Reporting to the Supervisor, Facility Support Services, this position performs general repetitive tasks to ensure the assigned area is well-maintained, considering the needs of patients, visitors, and staff. This includes adhering to established standards for cleaning and disinfecting techniques.

The successful candidate will participate in On-the-Job Training programs, seek clarification when needed, and offer assistance to colleagues. They will also demonstrate a professional demeanor in all interactions and contribute to a positive work environment.

This position channels suggestions, concerns, and queries to the appropriate authority and performs duties in a timely and effective manner. The Utility Worker will also practice responsible cost effectiveness in the use of time, materials, and equipment.

Key responsibilities include observing hospital and departmental personnel policies, particularly regarding patient confidentiality, practicing and promoting safety awareness, and participating in the departmental quality management program. The incumbent will also support and participate in departmental continuing education programs.

About You

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented individual with the following qualifications:

  • Grade 12/GED or equivalent work experience
  • Knowledge of cleaning techniques and methods in a healthcare setting is an asset
  • Good communication skills are essential
  • Competencies in other languages, particularly French, are an asset

Hours and Compensation

This is a permanent, part-time position with 37.5 hours bi-weekly. The hourly rate is $19.26 - $20.02.
