About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Building Maintenance Technician to join our team at 3059308 Nova Scotia Ltd. o/a HI Dartmouth. As a key member of our facilities team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our building systems and maintaining a safe and healthy environment for our staff and guests.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks to ensure the optimal functioning of our heating, cooling, ventilation, plumbing, and electrical systems.
  • Contact contractors for repairs and maintenance of our facilities, and coordinate with them to ensure timely completion of tasks.
  • Conduct safety and security checks to identify potential hazards and take corrective action to prevent accidents.
  • Operate industrial equipment such as vacuum cleaners, power sweepers, and polishing machines to maintain our facilities.
  • Perform heavy lifting and moving of furniture, equipment, and supplies as needed.
  • Assist with minor repairs to appliances and other equipment, and perform routine maintenance tasks such as painting and drywall repair.
  • Tend to plants, lawns, and gardens to maintain a pleasant and welcoming environment.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision, using your initiative and judgment to prioritize tasks and make decisions.
  • Clean snow and ice from walkways and parking areas during winter months.
Requirements
  • Secondary (high) school graduation certificate
  • 1 to less than 7 months of experience in a related field
  • Excellent oral communication skills
  • Initiative, judgement, and reliability
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Physical stamina to perform heavy lifting and bending
