Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Housekeeping Associate to join our team at The Westin Nova Scotian. As a Housekeeping Associate, you will play a critical role in ensuring that our guest rooms and public areas are clean, comfortable, and well-maintained.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain Clean and Attractive Guestrooms - Ensure that guest rooms are cleaned and maintained to the highest standards, including making beds, changing linens, cleaning, dusting, polishing, and vacuuming.
  • Focus on Details - Pay attention to details to ensure that windows are sparkling, towels are folded correctly, supplies are restocked, closets are neat and clean, and hangers are in place.
  • Be Organized - Maintain a clean and organized housekeeping closet and cart area to ensure efficient and effective cleaning.
  • Be a Team Player - Collaborate with colleagues to achieve common goals, provide training and support to new staff members, and participate in department events.
  • Be a Housekeeping Ambassador - Provide exceptional customer service by greeting guests warmly and ensuring that they have a positive experience.
  • Be a Safety & Security Agent - Follow established safety and security policies and procedures to ensure a safe and secure environment for guests and staff.
Requirements
  • Basic English Communication Skills - Possess basic English communication skills to effectively interact with guests and colleagues.
  • Medium Work - Be able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
  • Ability to Stand for Long Periods - Be able to stand for long periods of time without sitting or leaning.
  • Ability to Multi-Task - Possess the ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks effectively.

  • Approach All Encounters with Guests and Employees in a Friendly, Service-Oriented Manner - Provide exceptional customer service by greeting guests warmly and ensuring that they have a positive experience.
  • Maintain Regular Attendance - Maintain regular attendance in compliance with New Castle standards, as required by scheduling.
  • Maintain High Standards of Personal Appearance and Grooming - Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, including wearing the proper business attire and nametag when working.
  • Comply with New Castle Standards and Regulations - Comply at all times with New Castle standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient hotel operations.
  • Secure Issued Keys - Secure issued keys at all times and report lost or stolen keys immediately.
  • Follow Proper SOP on Entering and Securing Guest Rooms - Follow proper SOP on entering and securing guest rooms.
  • Thoroughly Clean and Restock Guestrooms - Thoroughly clean and re-stock guestrooms to New Castle Standards.
  • Complete All Pre-Cleaning Duties - Complete all pre-cleaning duties, including but not limited to, guest supplies, cleaning supplies, and linen for housekeeping cart set-up.
  • Report Lost and Found Items - Report all lost and found items to the Housekeeping Supervisor immediately.
  • Keep Hallways, Public Areas, and Closets Clean - Keep all hallways, public areas, and closets clean, neat, and boomed.
  • Prepare Housekeeping Cleaning Cart - Prepare housekeeping cleaning cart for next day's use.
  • Report Maintenance Repairs - Report any maintenance repairs immediately to the Housekeeping Supervisor or Manager.
  • Complete All Assigned Cleaning Duties - Complete all assigned cleaning duties in designated area.
  • Keep Immediate Supervisors Informed - Keep immediate supervisors fully informed of all challenges or matters requiring their attention.
