The Occupational Therapist plays a vital role in the Rehabilitation Services team, working under the supervision of the Manager of Rehabilitation Services. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with clients, caregivers, and families to facilitate, restore, and maintain optimal levels of function in areas of self-care, productivity, and leisure. The Occupational Therapist provides consultation, assessment, treatment, evaluation, and follow-up services while working within the hospital, client's home, and/or community settings. The ideal candidate will establish individualized treatment plans and goals, manage a busy caseload, and utilize clinical judgment and decision-making skills to prioritize issues on a daily basis. Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills are essential for this role. The Occupational Therapist will provide education and support to clients, families, and caregivers, functioning as a member of an occupational therapy clinical team and an interprofessional hospital and/or community healthcare team. The successful applicant may be required to provide services anywhere within the Rehabilitation Services portfolio.

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Occupational Therapist to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or entry-level master's program in Occupational Therapy from an accredited university
  • Licensure with the provincial regulatory body, the College of Occupational Therapists of Nova Scotia, is mandatory
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to facilitate education programs and interact positively with patients/clients, families, other healthcare providers, and staff
  • Commitment to promoting a culture of respect that supports safety, ethical practices, cultural awareness, and organizational health
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, while effectively planning, organizing, and supervising
  • Ability to be flexible and adjust to the changing needs of the service and the program/facility
  • Must be able to work alone or with team members in all service settings
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

The successful candidate will work a permanent full-time schedule with 75 hours bi-weekly. Shiftwork, call, rotation, and other arrangements may be required.
