About the Role

The Government of Nunavut is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Technical Officer - Trades to join our team. As a key member of our technical staff, you will provide design solutions, cost confirmation, project analysis, and studies to ensure the lowest capital cost possible for capital projects and operations/maintenance activities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical and project management advice and guidance to district project management teams, district maintenance management teams, and program departments in the planning, design, construction, operation, and maintenance of buildings.
  • Advise on Nunavut Housing Corporation's (NHC) assets and associated databases.
  • Provide detailed plan reviews in the specified discipline at various stages of the building design.
  • Develop detailed scopes of work and associated construction documents to assist district offices as needed for all maintenance and capital projects.
Requirements
  • Recognized trades certificate in a related discipline.
  • 6 years' experience with housing design and construction, along with 2 years of Project Management experience.
  • Experience working in cold climate construction and knowledge of Auto Cad are considered assets.
  • Acceptable combinations of education and experience may be considered for this position.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Fluency in Inuktitut or Inuinnaqtun.
  • Knowledge of Inuit communities, culture, land, Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit, and experience working in a northern cross-cultural environment.
