Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Human Resources Coordinator to join our team at the Government of Nunavut. The successful candidate will provide ongoing advice and support to all departmental staff and central agencies in administrating staff recruitment, staff training and development, employee relations and disciplinary matters, HR reporting and ongoing performance management initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the Manager, Human Resources in all HR activities within the Department of Finance.
  • Provide technical guidance and policy advice to all divisions of the department in the areas of human resources development and staff training.
  • Develop, implement, monitor and evaluate comprehensive training, HR planning and leadership programs.
  • Provide HR expertise to Departmental/Regional Office managers on the correct interpretation and application of HR legislation.
  • Consult with employees on leave and attendance issues and payroll transactions.
  • Oversee and/or provide HR support, services and assigned training programs to client managers in a wide range of HR areas.
Requirements
  • College diploma in Human Resources Management, Labour or Industrial Relations, or a related field, from a recognized institution.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of relevant Human Resources experience.
  • Fluency in more than one of Nunavut's official languages would be considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of Inuit communities, culture, land, Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit, Inuktut and experience working in a northern cross-cultural environment are also considered assets.
