Position Overview:

The Oncology Pharmacist plays a crucial role in delivering comprehensive pharmaceutical care to oncology patients. This position requires collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to ensure the highest standards of patient care.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate effectively with Pharmacy and Oncology departments to enhance patient-centered care.
  • Provide accurate drug information to healthcare professionals to support patient treatment plans.
  • Conduct thorough clinical reviews and verify medication orders for patients in the oncology clinic.
  • Educate patients on medication use to promote safety and efficacy.
  • Mentor and guide Pharmacy residents, students, and interns in their professional development.
  • Oversee the preparation and dispensing of chemotherapy agents.
  • Address and resolve daily clinical and operational challenges.
  • Support the operational needs of the Oncology Clinic.
  • Engage in quality improvement initiatives within the oncology program.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Qualifications:
  • Valid license from the Ontario College of Pharmacists (Part A of the Registry).
  • Experience in clinical oncology is preferred.
  • Familiarity with OPIS and Meditech systems is advantageous.
  • Membership in CAPhO is considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of hazardous sterile compounding and NAPRA standards is essential.
  • Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proficient in computer applications.
  • Demonstrated initiative and ability to work collaboratively in a team setting.
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the role.
  • Consistent attendance and a reliable work history.

Additional Information:

This position primarily operates during daytime hours, with a schedule that may include weekdays and occasional weekends, subject to operational needs.
