Position Overview

The Nurse Practitioner plays a pivotal role in the Oncology Program at William Osler Health System, collaborating closely with the Medical Director and the patient care team to deliver exceptional clinical services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Patient Assessment: Conduct thorough evaluations to determine patient needs and develop appropriate care plans.
  • Clinical Diagnosis: Utilize advanced clinical skills to diagnose conditions and prescribe treatments within established protocols.
  • Patient Monitoring: Track patient progress meticulously, ensuring documentation is accurate and care plans are adjusted as necessary.
  • Clinical Autonomy: Demonstrate a high level of independence in managing both acute and chronic conditions, while promoting wellness among oncology patients.
  • Education and Training: Provide in-service training and clinical education to the oncology care team as required.
  • Protocol Development: Lead initiatives to create and implement comprehensive protocols for oncology patient care.
  • Research Engagement: Participate in evidence-based practice through active involvement in research activities.
  • Consultative Role: Serve as a consultant for internal and external stakeholders regarding oncology-related systems.
Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Nursing.
  • Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Certification is mandatory.
  • Current registration with the relevant nursing regulatory body.
  • A minimum of 2 years of recent nursing experience in Oncology care.
  • At least 2 years of experience as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner in the Oncology specialty.
  • Strong decision-making, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficient negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
  • Capability to lead and inspire teams effectively.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Familiarity with computerized data management and statistical analysis.
  • Demonstrated reliability in attendance and punctuality.
Additional Information

This position requires availability for day shifts, including weekends and holidays, subject to operational needs.
