The Nurse Practitioner plays a vital role in the Oncology Program, collaborating closely with the Medical Director and the multidisciplinary patient care team. This position involves direct clinical practice that includes:
- Patient Assessment: Evaluating the needs of patients to ensure comprehensive care.
- Diagnosis and Treatment: Diagnosing conditions and prescribing treatments in accordance with established medical protocols.
- Monitoring and Documentation: Tracking patient progress, maintaining accurate records, and adjusting care plans as necessary.
- Clinical Autonomy: Identifying and addressing clinical practice challenges, utilizing expert skills to manage both acute and chronic illnesses, while promoting wellness in oncology patients.
- Education and Training: Providing in-service training and clinical education to the oncology care team as required.
- Protocol Development: Leading the creation and execution of organization-wide protocols for oncology patient care.
- Research Engagement: Participating in evidence-based practice through research initiatives.
- Consultative Role: Serving as a consultant for internal and external stakeholders regarding oncology-related systems.
- Master's degree in Nursing.
- Certification as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner is mandatory.
- Current registration with the relevant nursing regulatory body.
- A minimum of two years of recent nursing experience in the field of Oncology.
- At least two years of experience as an ACNP in Oncology.
- Strong decision-making, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficient negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
- Capability to lead and inspire teams effectively.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Familiarity with computerized data management and statistical analysis.
- Demonstrated excellent attendance and punctuality.
This position requires working days, typically eight-hour shifts, including weekends and holidays, subject to operational needs.
