Position Overview

As a vital member of the Oncology team at William Osler Health System, the **Oncology Pharmacist** plays a crucial role in delivering exceptional patient care through collaborative efforts with healthcare professionals.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate effectively with Pharmacy and Oncology teams to ensure patient-focused treatment plans.
  • Deliver comprehensive drug information to physicians, nurses, and other healthcare providers to enhance therapeutic outcomes.
  • Conduct thorough clinical reviews and verify all medication orders for patients receiving care in the oncology clinic.
  • Educate patients on medication usage to promote safe and effective drug administration.
  • Guide and mentor Pharmacy residents, students, and interns in their professional development.
  • Oversee the preparation and administration of chemotherapy treatments.
  • Address and resolve daily clinical and operational challenges.
  • Support the operational functions of the Oncology Clinic.
  • Engage in quality improvement initiatives within the oncology program.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required.
Qualifications:
  • Must hold a valid license from the Ontario College of Pharmacists (Part A of the Registry).
  • Previous clinical experience in oncology is preferred.
  • Familiarity with OPIS and Meditech systems is advantageous.
  • Membership in CAPhO is considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of hazardous sterile compounding practices, including NAPRA standards.
  • Strong oral, interpersonal, and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in computer applications relevant to pharmacy practice.
  • Exhibit initiative and a collaborative spirit in a team-oriented environment.
  • Ability to meet the physical demands associated with the role.
  • Demonstrate excellent attendance, punctuality, and a solid work ethic.
  • Embody the core values of Respect, Excellence, Service, Compassion, Innovation, and Collaboration.
Additional Information:

This position primarily operates during daytime hours, Monday through Friday, with potential Saturday shifts based on operational needs.
