Job Summary

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) plays a vital role in providing safe and effective nursing care to patients at Alberta Health Services. As a member of the healthcare team, the LPN is responsible for observing, monitoring, and reporting changes in patient physical, mental, and emotional states. This includes providing relevant information and teaching to patients and their families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team to deliver consistent quality care to patients
  • Monitor and report changes in patient condition to healthcare professionals
  • Provide education and support to patients and their families
  • Work within the full scope of practice to provide nursing care
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program
  • Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA)
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP)
  • Successfully pass the Stollery Pre-hire Interview Medication Administration Exam
  • Successfully pass the Stollery Medication Administration Exam with 90% or greater completed during orientation
  • Successfully pass the Stollery PEARS (Pediatric Emergency Assessment, Recognition and Stabilization) course - completed during orientation
  • A minimum 3+ years Pediatric Cardiology/GI experience required
