Creative Manitoba is a non-profit organization dedicated to fostering artistic development and providing mentorship opportunities for youth in the community.

We are seeking a Project Coordinator Assistant for an 18-week engagement, offering 30 hours of work per week. This role is part of a program designed to support student employment in the arts sector. The Project Coordinator Assistant will collaborate closely with the Project Coordinator to facilitate summer programs and art camps at various community locations. This position is ideally suited for a post-secondary student pursuing studies in Fine Arts or Education, providing an excellent opportunity to gain experience in community arts programming.

Position Details:

Type: Contract

Compensation: Hourly rate

Weekly Hours: 30 hours, with a schedule to be determined, including afternoon and evening shifts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate and support workshops and summer camps at community venues
  • Plan and execute programming for community events and festivals
  • Manage art supply inventory and procurement
  • Assist the Coordinator with staff scheduling and project planning
  • Develop social media content and promotional materials
  • Engage in outreach to community organizations to promote programming
  • Perform data entry tasks
  • Undertake additional duties as required

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Must meet the criteria for a Young Canada Works Student Work Placement: currently enrolled in a post-secondary program (full-time or part-time), 30 years of age or younger at the start of employment, a Canadian citizen or permanent resident, and possess a valid Social Insurance Number.
  • A strong interest in pursuing a career in the arts, with preference given to practicing artists or students in Fine Arts, Art History, Curatorial Studies, or Education.
  • Experience in creating digital and social media content.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Premiere).
  • Experience working with children and youth.
  • Demonstrated ability in community engagement and understanding of the challenges faced by youth in urban settings.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong organizational abilities, and a proven capacity to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • A valid class 5 driver's license and access to a vehicle is an asset.
  • Candidates must provide a clear criminal record check and a child abuse registry check.
