Lead Youth Activity Worker

As a Lead Youth Activity Worker, you will play a vital role in shaping the lives of children and youth aged 6-18. You will be responsible for designing, implementing, and overseeing a wide range of activities and programs that foster personal growth, skill development, and community engagement.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop and deliver engaging activities and programs in diverse areas such as arts & culture, sports & recreation, leadership, health & life skills, and education & career exploration.
  • Plan and prepare program materials, ensuring a safe and stimulating environment for participants.
  • Supervise and mentor Activity Workers and volunteers, providing guidance and support to enhance their skills and effectiveness.
  • Promote positive group dynamics and behavior management techniques to create a harmonious and productive atmosphere.
  • Address incidents and sensitive issues with empathy and professionalism, ensuring the well-being of all participants.
Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in planning and leading activities for children and youth.
  • Strong group management skills with a commitment to fostering positive relationships.
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities to effectively plan and execute programs.
  • Knowledge of youth development principles, issues, and community resources.
  • A passion for social justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI), with a commitment to truth and reconciliation.
  • Valid Class 5F Manitoba Driver's License with a clear Driver's Abstract.
  • Ability to provide current criminal record and child abuse registry checks.
Assets:
  • Pursuing or completed post-secondary education in Education, Child & Youth Care, or related social sciences field.
  • Experience managing program budgets or petty cash.
  • Experience leading or mentoring staff or volunteers.
  • Valid First Aid & CPR certification.
  • Valid Safe Food Handling Certificate.
