Your Role:

The Clinical Respiratory Therapist II serves as a pivotal member of the healthcare team, focusing on specialized respiratory care within the Maintenance and Special Procedures domain. This position is designed for individuals with advanced training and certification, who will assist the Respiratory Therapy Manager in delivering high-quality clinical services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as a clinical consultant and educator for Respiratory Therapist I staff.
  • Participate in the orientation and training of new team members and preceptors' students.
  • Conduct troubleshooting, routine maintenance, quality control, and repairs of respiratory equipment and blood gas analyzers.
  • Ensure comprehensive function checks of equipment prior to returning to service.
  • Maintain inventory levels of consumables, parts, and supplies.
  • Assist in bronchoscopies, EBUS procedures, and provide general patient care in the Endoscopy suite.
  • Deliver direct patient care in various assigned areas as needed.

Position Overview:

As a Respiratory Therapist II, you will be responsible for coordinating, monitoring, and evaluating clinical services in your designated area. You will serve as a clinical resource for daily operations, facilitating therapy assessments and treatments while contributing to the development of clinical protocols.

Your role will include:

  • Developing and implementing respiratory therapy care plans.
  • Monitoring the progress of patients receiving advanced respiratory treatments.
  • Identifying equipment needs and ensuring adequate supply levels.
  • Managing respiratory equipment, including its operation, procurement, maintenance, and quality assurance.
  • Engaging in interprofessional rounds, conferences, and meetings as appropriate.

Qualifications:

Active or eligible registration with the College and Association of Respiratory Therapists of Alberta (CARTA) is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Candidates with experience in EBUS, routine troubleshooting, maintenance, and application of respiratory equipment and blood gas machines will be given preference.
