Support Specialist for Community Engagement

Position Overview:
This role is available for all qualified candidates and necessitates Union Membership. The primary objective is to assist individuals in achieving a fulfilling and meaningful life across various dimensions they select.
Essential Qualifications:
- Diploma in a relevant human or social services discipline
- Minimum of one (1) year of pertinent experience
- Must possess and maintain a satisfactory criminal record check, including Vulnerable Sector Check
- Must have and uphold a clear Drivers Abstract
- Must hold a valid First Aid Certification
- Must have valid CPI training
- Vaccination against Covid-19 is required
Key Competencies:
- Ability to advocate for the needs, rights, desires, and choices of individuals served
- Capability to encourage independence and provide opportunities for skill development, assisting individuals in nurturing their gifts, talents, and abilities
- Proficiency in participating in the creation, execution, and ongoing documentation of individualized person-centered plans. Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential
- Knowledge and ability to assist individuals with their personal care requirements while ensuring they are viewed positively by their social circles
- Ability to foster and maintain meaningful relationships with family, friends, and community members
- Skill in establishing and sustaining positive collaborative relationships with all professionals involved in the care of individuals served
- Willingness to perform additional responsibilities as required
Performance Expectations:
Job performance must meet satisfactory standards and will be evaluated based on the fulfillment of the aforementioned responsibilities, including assessment reports and disciplinary records as per the Collective Agreement.
