Join Val and Patsy's Island Food as an Assistant Chef and take your culinary skills to the next level
About the RoleWe are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Assistant Chef to join our team. As an Assistant Chef, you will be responsible for assisting the Head Chef in the preparation and cooking of meals, as well as supervising the activities of specialist chefs, chefs, cooks, and other kitchen workers.
Key Responsibilities- Assist the Head Chef in the preparation and cooking of meals
- Supervise the activities of specialist chefs, chefs, cooks, and other kitchen workers
- Demonstrate new cooking techniques and new equipment to cooking staff
- Create new recipes
- Instruct cooks in preparation, cooking, garnishing, and presentation of food
- Prepare and cook complete meals and specialty foods for events such as banquets
- Supervise cooks and other kitchen staff
- Prepare and cook food on a regular basis, or for special guests or functions
- Requisition food and kitchen supplies
- Consult with clients regarding weddings, banquets, and specialty functions
- Plan menus and ensure food meets quality standards
- Prepare dishes for customers with food allergies or intolerances
- Supervise activities of sous-chefs, specialist chefs, chefs, and cooks
- Train staff in preparation, cooking, and handling of food
- Leading/instructing individuals
- 3-4 years of experience in a kitchen environment
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and lift heavy objects
