The opportunity

Optimum Mortgage is the residential lending division of Canadian Western Bank, and we are the fastest growing business in the company We are looking for an individual to join our growing team who is eager, confident, has an eye for detail and is self led.

As a Mortgage Documentation Review Specialist, you demonstrate excellency in reviewing pre-funding conditions and documents in a paperless environment to ensure policy, regulatory and audit requirements are satisfied. You maintain a high attention to details and customer service in order to improve broker-originated opportunities.

What you'll be doing

  • Reviewing conditions for files including Income, Down Payment, Title Searches, Credit Bureaus, Purchase documents, Company Documentation, Condominium Documentation
  • Being accountable for fraud detection and ensuring a satisfactory inspection and audit.
  • (duplicate)Reviewing and signing off on any Solicitor conditions.
  • (duplicate)Ensuring adherence to bank protocols, procedures, regulatory, and AML requirements
  • Working in a fast-paced environment and efficiently handle an active desk, completing an average of 9 updates a day.
  • Driving the application pipeline forward through consistent follow-up on all "approved" files through analysis of the scheduled funding report on a weekly basis.
  • Maintaining a 24-hour turnaround time for communication 'touch-points'.
  • Crafting efficiencies and challenge the status quo by providing alternative document solutions that are within protocol and in collaboration with the customer/referral source
  • Supporting underwriters and business development managers in closing deals.


Who we're looking for & what you've done

Core Knowledge

  • Business administration diploma or comparable work experience.
  • Minimum 3 years mortgage documentation review experience. Understanding of Alt -A lending practices is an asset.


Personal Competencies

  • Demonstrate an understanding of mortgage lending guidelines, compliance, regulatory and AML requirements around fraud detection.
  • Shown experience in reviewing conditions for mortgage files (Income, Down Payment, Title Searches, Credit Bureaus, Purchase documents, company and condominium documentation.
  • Knowledge of Mortgage Documentation for conventional, high ratio, and HELOC residential mortgages.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal and organization skills with the ability to prioritize in a high risk, fast paced, team culture.
  • Ability to communicate efficiently; both written and verbal.
