About the Faculty of Business, Communication and Aviation

The Department of Innovation and Marketing, Faculty of Business, Communication and Aviation at Mount Royal University invites applications for a tenure‑track position which will commence July 1st 2026, subject to final budgetary approval, at the Rank of Assistant Professor.

The Faculty of Business, Communication Studies & Aviation comprises the Bissett School of Business, the School of Communication Studies and the Aviation Program. The Bissett School of Business offers a four‑year Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree with majors in accounting, human resources, general management (with concentrations in innovation and entrepreneurship, social innovation). Students in the Bissett School of Business can take a four‑year Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree. The Aviation Program is housed in the Department of International Business, Supply Chain and Aviation and offers a two‑year Aviation Diploma and the newly launched four‑year Bachelor of Aviation Management. Students in the School of Communications Studies take a four‑year Bachelor of Communication Studies (BComms) and can pursue majors in Broadcast Media Studies, Information Design, Journalism and Public Relations. In addition to the two degrees and their majors, students are offered a variety of minors, concentrations and certificates to complement their major.

About the Department of Innovation and Marketing

The Department currently offers a degree program in Business Administration with a major, minor and certificate in Marketing, and minors and concentrations in both Entrepreneurship and Social Innovation. The department is currently developing a new major in Business Innovation. The successful candidate will be an essential part of this new program. The faculty conducts research in areas of AI, system thinking, growth, creativity, design thinking, social impact, meta analysis and systematic reviews, open innovation, innovation strategies etc.

About the Role

The Department of Marketing and Innovation invites applications for a tenure‑track position which will commence July 1st, 2026, subject to final budgetary approval, at the Rank of Assistant Professor.

New faculty are hired into one of two work patterns. The teaching/scholarship/service pattern (TSS) focuses on teaching with the requirement that the faculty member be involved in a research program as well as service to the Mount Royal community. The teaching/service pattern (TS) focuses on teaching and service only. The successful candidate for this role will be hired into the teaching/scholarship/service pattern (TSS).

There is an option to change work patterns after tenure.

The successful applicant must be qualified to teach introductory and senior courses in innovation, entrepreneurship and/or social innovation, and be prepared to be involved in course and program development.

A PhD in business, innovation, entrepreneurship or related field is required. The committee considers applicants who will complete their degree, i.e. defending their thesis successfully, before July 1st 2026.

Applicants should demonstrate the ability and intent to pursue a research program in the fields of innovation, social innovation and/or entrepreneurship.

Professional work experience in the field of innovation, social innovation and entrepreneurship is desirable.
