Youth Coordinator: Cumberland House Cree Nation 2025-03-08

Service Goals
The Youth Coordinator will work under the daily supervision of the Health Director in the community and under the supervision of the PAGC Embrace Life Coordinator. Yearly work plans, monthly calendars, and daily activities must be shared with both supervisors prior to activities or events.
Essential Functions
1. Work with YAC, PAGC ELC, and the PAGC Land Based Team in planning, coordinating, and promoting youth, young adult, and family programming, including but not limited to sports.
2. Address specific needs using a strength-based model, including sense of belonging, unresolved grief, building strong healthy family relationships, personal health practices, coping skills, decision-making, and problem-solving.
3. Facilitate cultural teachings, ceremonies, language classes, and proper protocols.
4. Engage and empower youth to learn leadership through opportunities to foster strong self-esteem development.
5. Work hands-on in programs, activities, and special events as needed.
6. Provide quality interaction to members, volunteers, and participants.
7. Assist with the implementation and delivery of on-the-land training and meeting coordination.
8. Collaborate with volunteers and community staff while overseeing daily operations of the project.
Requirements
1. Energetic, enthusiastic, and passionate about working with youth, young adults, and families.
2. Minimum of 24 years of age and a resident of the community.
3. Cree speaker is an asset.
4. Experience working with youth, young adults, and families.
5. Demonstrated ability to provide and role model a quality lifestyle and effectively work with others.
6. Must be self-directed and detail-oriented.
7. Demonstrated organization and communication skills.
8. CPR, AED, Wilderness Safety, and First Aid and ASIST certifications required within 60 days of hire.
9. Demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations.
10. Basic computer skills.
11. Knowledge of survival skills needed while on the land, including hunting, fishing, trapping, preparation of traditional foods, and organizing a safe camping experience.
12. Willingness to work on the land with youth, young adults, and families in all seasons.
