Overview:
Come join our dynamic Real Estate team at Loblaw Companies Ltd. at our Regional Office (3225 12st NE #100, Calgary, AB) where everyday there are new opportunities and learning challenges that lie ahead The incumbent will report to the Senior Director, Real Estate, and will be responsible for negotiating, leasing, and managing New Store Opportunities, Dispositions, Lease Renewals, Ancillary Leasing, Special Projects and more in Western Canada.
Accountabilities:
- Evaluate and analyze new store locations and development opportunities in the retail sector of Western Canada;
- Analyze and modelling the pro forma to determine the financial feasibility of new stores;
- Negotiate real estate agreements for new stores, expansions, replacements, conversions and rightsizes;
- Establish and maintain relationships with developers and landlords in Western Canada;
- Prepare and Present decks for the Real Estate Capital Meetings;
- Work directly with landlords and brokers to source new locations;
- Negotiate lease rates for upcoming lease renewals;
- Assist the store design, development, construction and operation teams to ensure that stores openings are achieved on time;
Role Requirements:
- Post-secondary education equivalent to a university degree in Real Estate, Urban Planning, Geography, Finance, Business, or related field.
- Two to Five years’ experience in the commercial real estate sector is required;
- Leading edge skills in PowerPoint and Excel with ability to create executive level presentation decks that describe the real estate project, including developing a variety of charts and economic proformas.
- Able to work with diverse personalities and styles. Communicates with clarity both written & verbal, in one on one or group situations, over the phone or through email.
- Strategic problem solver with the ability to make supportable decisions
- Sound knowledge of financial data, lease documents and retail market trends
