Portage Mutual is seeking a Broker Relationship Manager for Edmonton Branch which will service the Northern Alberta area. The role will be hybrid and consist of work in office, in a hybrid office and requires visits to various broker offices and company functions across Alberta. The hours for this role vary and may involve evening meetings or functions.

The BMR is responsible for assisting in identifying solutions that will support the company’s goals of long-term profitable growth. The individual will accomplish this by establishing and developing the company’s relationships with their Insurance Brokers and maintaining a liaison between the Brokers and Underwriting Departments.

Key Responsibilities:

- Builds and strengthens existing broker relationships within their region.
- Seeks opportunities to strategically expand the companies broker network within their region.
- Evaluate potential brokers within their respective territory for alignment with long-term profit objectives.
- Integrate respective broker feedback into proposals and present supported recommendations.
- Responsible for monitoring portfolio performance at the territory and broker level (i.e. retention, loss ratio, growth, policy count and profit).
- Accountable for delivering on annual business plans for their region in alignment with the companies strategic goals.
- Collect industry information and market intelligence in their territory.
- Develops both product awareness and underwriting philosophy within the brokerage force (i.e. having the ability to quote business when on broker visits).
- Quote commercial business when visiting a broker (if required).
- Consistently communicates with customers, industry associates and co-workers in a friendly, courteous and professional manner.
- Serve as a prominent representative of the company at industry events.

Skills, Attributes and Experience required:

- Strong problem solving and analytical skills
- Is able to demonstrate a collaborate approach to leadership and communication
- Extensive knowledge of company products, broker operations, underwriter functions, coverage requirements and risk assessment
- Experience in collaborating with cross functional teams
- Proven negotiation and relationship-building skills.
- Outstanding written, verbal and presentation skills
- Ability to travel to visit brokers is required
- Ability to attend industry functions as required

Education Requirements:

- Post-secondary education in marketing or relevant insurance experience is required.
- Business and finance experience are considered strong assets.
- CIP, ACIP or FCIP designation(s) are required.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

**Salary**: $75,000.00-$100,000.00 per year
