**About the Role**
The Nova Scotia Digital Service is hiring a Service Design Manager to lead a team of Service Designers. Your team will focus on digital healthcare as part of the One Patient, One Record (OPOR) project and also play a role in designing other government services. In this role, you'll empower your team to collaborate across departments and work with project leads in policy and technology.

You'll be responsible for delivering services that put Nova Scotians at the centre through a human-centred user research approach. As manager, you'll remove barriers to user research and be a mentor for your team as they navigate service design challenges. You'll support your team as they interpret research and prototype solutions by leading alignment activities with stakeholders.

**Primary Accountabilities**
- Managing a team of professional Service Designers
- Promoting a culture of trust, teamwork, and psychological safety
- Working with stakeholders across government and healthcare to build collaborative business relationships
- Finding new ways to approach problem solving in an ambiguous environment
- Managing the delivery of projects and keeping people informed by working in the open.
- Empowering your team by removing barriers so they can do their best work.
- Setting measurable goals and reporting metrics for your team
- Contributing to service design best practices documentation for the Nova Scotia Digital Service

**To be successful in this role, you have relevant experience**
- Leading multidisciplinary design projects and teams
- Delivering high quality digital services from design research to launch and continuous improvement
- Being responsible for design decisions in development and management of digital services
- Creating influence at senior levels (e.g. with senior executive teams and deputies)
- Leading change by encouraging collaboration across a matrix organization in a fluid environment
- Building empowered teams by delegating authority and providing coaching and support to your team
- Adopting internet-era practices, and ability to engage with multidisciplinary teams to achieve business/policy outcomes.

**Education & Experience**
- A relevant bachelor's degree and work experience leading teams and projects
- An equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered
