**CUPW 2023 Election - Poll Worker Job Posting**

**Work**
- Drew North Services is an independent election company looking for 6-8 people to work as poll workers for the Canadian Union of Postal Workers 2023 Election.
- The election will take place over two periods**:Feb 13-23** and **Feb 28-Mar 9**.
- The election will have a number of polls located throughout Metro Toronto, primarily in the cities of Toronto and Mississauga.
- The job consists of confirming the identities of valid electors from a list and providing them with ballots and instructions for casting their vote.
- The final days of the job consist of counting ballots and recording the results.
- This is a temporary work opportunity as subcontractors, not an offer of permanent employment.
- Note that we cannot offer this opportunity to CUPW members or anyone currently employed by Canada Post in any capacity.

**Remuneration**
- $25/hour for those who can bring their own laptop and cell phone with data tethering.
- $23/hour for those who cannot provide the above.
- Poll workers will submit a timesheet at the end of the election period (Feb 13-23). If a run-off election is required (likely), poll workers will submit a second timesheet at the end of that election period (Feb 28-Mar 9).
- Payment will be remitted by e-transfer within 5 days of receiving each timesheet at the end of the periods.

**Shifts**
- Shifts are 8.5 hours and do not include any meal breaks; food can be eaten during downtime in the shift, and the whole period will be paid.
- With a few exceptions, morning shifts are 5:30am-2:00pm and afternoon shifts are 2:00-10:30pm.
- Double shifts may be available on certain days, for a total of 17 hours, but will never be required.
- A paid 2-hour training shift must be completed on Monday, February 13th at 47 Densley Avenue.
- It is recommended that you allow for extra time to arrive on location if taking transit, since the weather can cause delays.

**Qualifications**
- Must be available to complete a paid 2-hour training shift on Monday, February 13th at 47 Densley Avenue. Time is flexible.
- Must be punctual and reliable.
- Must be able to sit for long periods of time performing a repetitive task.
- Must be able to follow directions and adhere to standards.
- Must have basic interpersonal skills, including the ability to deal with people who may be impatient.
- Must be able to remain professional, impartial, and apolitical.
- Experience as a poll worker is an asset.
- Experience in a customer service job is an asset, as well as any other job involving conflict-resolution.
- Priority will be given to those available for morning shifts.

**Salary**: $25.00 per hour
