Work Performed

The Research Assistant will be responsible for:

- Recruitment process of potential participants and obtaining informed consent
- Assists with data entry, data collection and data management in accordance with existing data management protocols
- Reviews study documentation (e.g., online questionnaires) for completeness and accuracy
- Prepares and submits invoices for study expenses
- Participates in research meetings and provide study updates to the team
- Assists with other general research duties as required

Consequence of Error/Judgement

The Research Assistant is required to conduct all research activities in an ethical manner and with adherence to the Tri-Council Policy Statement concerning Ethical Conduct for Research Involving Humans. Any procedures or data recorded as part of this research must be accurate and must accurately reflect the work performed.

Supervision Received

Most aspects of work will be done independently, while other aspects will be done under the supervision of the team members listed above.

Supervision Given

N/A but there may be an opportunity to supervise volunteers or trainees, as time permits.

Minimum Qualifications

High school graduation, some additional training in a related field and a minimum two years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications

University degree preferred. Health sciences research experience preferred. Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Ability to be thorough, accurate, and have a high level of attention to detail. Exceptional organizational and interpersonal skills. Good computer skills with basic programs, and experience with data management systems such as REDCap and Open Specimen is an asset. Ability to work effectively independently and in a team environment. Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and priorities. Reliable and able to exercise initiative and independence.
