Job Summary- The Research Assistant will provide research support to the Rehabilitation Research Program (RRP) under the supervision of Dr. Janice Eng.

Organizational Status- The Research Assistant will receive work direction for the team of Rehabilitation Research Program (RRP) and report to Dr. Janice Eng. Will work closely with other staff and faculty to fulfill the operational requirements of the research group.- This position will take place at Rehabilitation Research Lab, GF Strong Rehabilitation Centre (4255 Laurel Street, Vancouver BC).

Work Performed- Conduct literature searches, uses reference management software, write standard content for the research newsletter and website pages.- Ensure compliance with institutional Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for clinical trials conduct.-
- Review, become knowledgeable about, and adhere to clinical research protocols and ensure clinical sites are adhering.-
- Communicate and instruct study procedures to clinical and research personnel, and provide updates and support to other staff when required.- Participate in screening, consenting, enrollment, and participants' study follow-up calls.- Perform data entry and summary statistics in a timely and accurate manner.- Work effectively with site coordinators to ensure effective and efficient study conduct.- Perform other research tasks and provide research support to Dr. Janice Eng and Rehabilitation Research Program team as required.

Consequence of Error/Judgement-
- There are time sensitive matters with deadlines that must be met in the Rehab Research Program, missing such deadlines could jeopardize the results to clinical trials.- Inappropriate interactions with research study participants could result in study participants and their families becoming frustrated, angry or seeking compensation.- A high degree of accuracy, a thorough understanding of policies and practices, the ability to anticipate, investigate and resolve problems, and the ability to meet conflicting demands are expected.

Supervision Received- Work closely with Rehab Research Program Team members. Work with general direction and supervision from Dr. Eng or senior Research Coordinators as part of a collaborative team.- This individual will be expected to work independently in accordance with established objectives; and exercise initiative and judgment in performing all work-related function.

Minimum Qualifications- High school graduation, some additional training in a related field and a minimum two years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.- Willingness to respect diverse perspectives, including perspectives in conflict with one’s own- Demonstrates a commitment to enhancing one’s own awareness, knowledge, and skills related to equity, diversity, and inclusion

Preferred Qualifications- Undergraduate degree required in a program related to health research, exercise, rehabilitation, or disability. Master’s degree with demonstrated research skills would be an asset.- Has experience in a research environment and with clinical trials preferred.- Demonstrated ability to take initiative and work in a team environment as well as independently with mínimal supervision.- Have positive attitude, self-motivation and enthusiasm and experience with seniors and those with chronic conditions, also need to be able to work with older adults with disability.- Knowledge of Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel and Power point) required.- Must demonstrate sound judgment, critical thinking, logical decision making.- Must possess strong problem-solving skills, able to anticipate and resolve problems in a timely, effective, ethical, professional, and constructive manner.- Ability to be flexible, multitask and work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.- Ability to effectively work on multiple simultaneous projects and successfully prioritize to meet deadlines.- Self-directed, highly self-motivated, assertive, enthusiastic and honest in the performance of all duties.-
