Thunderbird Partnership Foundation is a Non-profit that supports a variety of initiatives that advocate for First Nations culturally based substance use and mental wellness services. Thunderbird’s vision is to cultivate and empower relationships that connect us to our cultural strengths and identity within wholistic and healthy communities. Thunderbird is a leading authority on Indigenous addictions and mental wellness research. We offer a variety of resources (guidebooks, toolkits, fact sheets, Thunderbird Wellness app, training curriculum) to support First Nations in their community planning. We offer training (self-directed and virtual) grounded in Indigenous Knowledge to National Native Alcohol & Drug Addiction Program (NNADAP) and National Youth Solvent Abuse Program (NYSAP) treatment centre workers and First Nations community wellness workers, to support special skills and knowledge needed to work effectively with First Nations communities.

We are currently looking to fill the position of **Human Resources Manager**. This is a full-time, in office position. Our head office is located in South Western Ontario.

**Position Purpose**

The Human Resources Manager undertake the functions of the Human Resources department including planning, implementing, and evaluating employee relations and human resources policies, programs and practices They will manage job design, benefits administration, health and safety, recruitment, employee relations, performance management, training and development and talent management. They will ensure the overall administration coordination and evaluation of human resources programs and practices are realized and the day-to-day operations of the department. The HR Manager will promote organizational values and shape a positive strength-based culture.

**Responsibilities**

Under the supervision of the Operations Manager, the HR Manager shall undertake the following duties:

- Develop and implement HR strategies and initiatives aligned with the organization’s mission, values and guiding principles.
- Be well versed with hiring, human resources management, benefits administration, performance management, communication processes, compensation, diversity support and employment law
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the human resources department
- Prepare annual human resources work plan in alignment to the organizational plan and oversee its completion
- Oversees payroll and all its related activities
- Creates and executes the human resource and talent strategy related to current and future talent needs, recruiting, retention and succession planning
- Coordinate annual and probationary evaluations for all staff ensuring high performance
- Undertake the recruitment and selection of hiring new staff including updates or creation of job descriptions, completion of pre-screen interviews, interviews with committee, assignments, reference checks, salary calculations, preparation of employment agreement and offer letter
- Oversees offboarding including completion of exit interviews and compilation of information shared
- Ensures personnel policies and procedures manual is current and up-to-date through scheduled review and when legislative updates occur
- Provides clarification and interpretation of human resources policies and procedures
- Maintains employee group benefits program, coordinates employee information sessions, analyzes benefits programs and makes recommendations for programs
- Maintains the health and safety program ensuring compliance to applicable legislation
- Deals with employee relations issues
- Handles progressive discipline in accordance to policy and makes recommendations for termination when necessary
- Ensures HRIS is kept accurate and up-to-date
- Develop organization training plan for employees based on job competencies that provide internal development opportunities
- Delegate assignments and provide supervision to Human Resources personnel

- Develop and implement a personal and professional development plan targeted at core competencies to ensure continues growth and development of responsibility
- Possess a good understanding of core competencies and their implementation by self and colleagues
- Participate and contribute freely to continual improvement of Thunderbird Partnership Foundation programs and services providing feedback and recommendations to ongoing organizational development initiatives
- Remain updated on technical and professional associations and building networks with fellow professionals
- Reviews professional publications related to area of responsibility
- Participate in annual performance evaluation
