Richmond School District operates 38 elementary schools, 10 secondary schools, alternate programs, continuing education and a number of additional facilities. The district enrolls approximately 21,000 students (K-12) and employs over 3000 dedicated staff.

Reporting to the Executive Director, Human Resources, the Human Resources Assistant performs a variety of confidential and sensitive tasks involving considerable discretion and high degree of responsibility. This excluded position will act as a key role in supporting the day-to-day administration and Human Resource functions of the department.

Major

**Responsibilities**:
Supports recruitment activities including internal and external job postings, screening, shortlisting, interview support, scheduling interviews and reference checks;
Processes forms, reports, minutes, appointments, contracts, and general correspondence to and from staff;
Assists with handling employee leave requests;
Handles confidential employee information and information requests;
Maintains, updates and modifies HR databases as required;
Prepare and submit invoices, cheque requisitions and employee reimbursements;
Assists with coordinating professional development events;
Facilitates and supports various projects and initiatives as developed by the Human Resources department;
Provides a variety of administrative support for the department including arranging meetings, and making travel and hotel arrangements;
Troubleshoots between Payroll, Human Resources, school sites and/or necessary departments to navigate and resolve discrepancies;
Orders office supplies;
Performs other administrative duties that are confidential in nature.

Required Qualifications

Completion of post-secondary degree with human resource coursework, or completion of Human Resources Diploma/Certificate;
Minimum of 1 year of administration or Human Resources related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience;
Strong interpersonal skills with the adept ability to connect with varying audiences;
Ability to multitask and work well in a fast-paced environment;
Strong interpersonal, customer service, conflict resolution and organizational skills;
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
