**Position Overview**
Reporting to the Site Director, the Production Planner focuses on scheduling and organizing production according to customer orders and prioritizing operations to ensure maximum performance and minimum delay. Ensures goods are produced on time for distribution in a profitable manner.
**Duties and Responsibilities**
- Monitors incoming orders on a daily basis for production planning purposes;
- Schedules production dates based on customer due dates and production capacity;
- Plans and prioritizes operations to ensure maximum performance and minimum delay;
- Reviews daily service and rush request orders received from Customer Service, and schedules production based on urgency, current adherence to production schedule, and availability of materials;
- Interfaces with Purchasing to obtain material and resource constraints and lead times - reviews material availability and advises Management of appropriate ship dates based on availability and lead times;
- Monitors and maintains daily ship schedules - confers with Supervisors to identify problems/blockages to ship dates;
- Provides written reports to Site Director regarding issues affecting or may affect product completion;
- Prepares and distributes daily production reports;
- Provides information required for printing labels, run machine/department reports;
- Determines manpower, equipment and raw materials needed to cover production demand;
- Creates master schedule to establish sequence and lead time of each operation to meet shipping dates according to customer orders;
- Planning and scheduling workflow for each department and operations according to established manufacturing procedures.
- Working with Production Supervisors and Site Director to expedite operations that delay schedules and altering schedules to meet unforeseen conditions;
- Collaborates regularly with Quality Coordinator to ensure workflow and procedures are operational;
- Establishes work measurement programs and analyzes work samples to develop standards for labor utilization;
- Collects cycle times, and other parameters to ensure that jobs and schedules are accurate and realistic;
- Other duties as required.
**Qualifications**:
- Post-secondary education in a related discipline and 3-5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment;
- Advanced analytical, conceptual thinking, problem solving, planning and organizational skills;
- Ability to work effectively with onsite and remote teams and build positive business relationships;
- Good communication skills both orally and written;
- Ability to influence stakeholders and work closely with them to determine acceptable solutions;
- Skilled at managing multiple tasks, setting and tracking own milestones, and meeting deadlines
- Ability to train others;
- Advanced computer knowledge of Microsoft Office and Visio
- Accurate and efficient data entry skills with a focus on detail;
- ‘Can Do’ attitude with the ability to work positively in a group as well as autonomously;
- Ability to work in a highly organized manner with detail and accuracy while meeting deadlines and balancing multiple tasks;
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
