The Payroll Team Lead position has the responsibility of assisting the Manager of Payroll and Benefits and acting as payroll team lead to ensure that all payroll processes are executed in an accurate and timely manner in compliance with all required payroll legislation protocols for West Edmonton Mall, Fantasyland Hotel, West Edmonton Mall West Edmonton Mall Inn, and related entities.

Primary Responsibilities:

- Utilizing comprehensive Payroll knowledge and experience to ensure the preparation, processing, and administration for all aspects of bi-weekly, semi-monthly, and monthly payrolls for West Edmonton Mall, Fantasyland Hotel, West Edmonton Mall Inn and subsidiary companies representing up to 1,500 salaried and hourly employees is completed accurately and on time.
- Taking a hands-on approach in all aspects of processing the company’s payrolls; including, making required adjustments, performing month end responsibilities, ensuring proper reports are pulled and distributed and completing any other payroll processes responsibilities as required through reputable payroll software.
- Completing required payroll functions such as processing of all electronic fund transfers, ensuring all receiver general payments are made online through our financial institution on a weekly basis or based on our remittance schedule with the government.
- Acting in a team lead role to provide payroll legislation, processes and administration guidance to other payroll staff members and Company department time and attendance administrators.
- Taking the lead to providing ongoing payroll support and administration for all company sub-payroll processes.
- Assisting the Manager of Payroll and Benefits with the administration of our Company Sun Life benefits program and required staff enrolments while providing ongoing information and guidance to employees on the benefit program.
- Taking the lead on various payroll related tasks such as year-end processing procedures.
- Assisting with ongoing reviews and potential payroll/HRIS software upgrades and implementations and departmental training for payroll and time and attendance processing responsibilities.
- Other responsibilities as required.

Desired Qualifications:

- Previous experience utilizing Avanti or another large-scale, reputable payroll/HRIS software.
- Strong working knowledge of Alberta payroll legislation and industry best practices.
- Excellent computer, interpersonal communication, and customer service skills with the ability to interact with employees on a daily basis and act in a leadership role as required.
- Strong organizational, time management and multi-tasking abilities with a proven high level of efficiency and accuracy.

Terms of Employment:

- This is a full-time position required Monday through Friday, 8:30am - 5pm for 7.5 hours per day.
- This position is eligible to participate in our 4-day work week program.
- This is a salaried position that will depend on experience and qualifications.
- This position will work on-site within the Human Resources office in West Edmonton Mall.
- Must be able to pass a basic security clearance.
